BSS honours women staff

DHAKA, March 8, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) hailed the contribution of its women employees by celebrating International Women’s Day today.

Marking the day, the national news agency organised a programme at its headquarters in the capital.

Addressing the programme, Managing Director and Chief Editor of BSS Abul Kalam Azad praised the women journalists and general staff for their contribution to BSS.

He said the state-run news agency always upholds the dignity and protect the interest of its all staff, including female colleagues.

Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s special initiative for women empowerment, Azad said Bangladesh have already become a role model in women empowerment.

He said as a national news agency, BSS is committed to keep up the spirit of the government’s commitment towards development of women.

BSS chief reporter Md Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury, online editor Aminul Islam Mirja, news editor Nur-e-Jannat Akhtar Sima, special correspondent Mahfuza Jasmine, senior sub-editors Junan Nashit and Ihita Jalil and planning and administration officer Mohammad Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion.

The women journalists thanked the BSS authorities for making the national news agency a gender sensitive organisation and upholding the ideology and spirit of the prime minister’s endevour for women empowerment.

Marking the day, BSS managing director cut a cake for the women employees and handed them over souvenirs. Journalists and other staff attended the event.
