PARLIAMENTARY-MEETING-DISASTER
Parliamentary meeting on disaster ministry held
DHAKA, Mar 28, 2019 (BSS) – Second meeting of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad’s Standing Committee on the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief was held today, at the parliament.
The committee chairman A B Tajul Islam presided over by the meeting. Member of the committee and state minister of Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman, Panchanan Bishwas, Md Aftab Uddin Sorkar, Mir Mostak Ahmed Robi, Jewel Areng, Majibur Rahman Chowdhury, Masud Uddin Chowdhury, and Kazi Kaniz Sultana, were present, at the meeting.
A three member sub-committee was formed to examine the allotments for the implemented projects in the last five years (ex: TR, KABIKHA, construction of bridge, culverts, buying and selling of relief and special allotments). Masud Uddin Chowdhury, was made the convener, while the other members are Majibur Rahman Chowdhury and Jewel Areng, said an official press release.
The committee recommended consulting with the members of the parliament in the adoption and implementation of the projects.
In the meeting, a request was made to Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) for the establishment of fire hydrants according to the necessity to prevent the fire accidents in Dhaka, the press release added.
Senior Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief ministry, Shah Kamal, Economic Relations Divisions (EDR) Secretary, Manwar Ahmed and senior officials of the respective departments of Jatiya Sandsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
