Stocks close week down
DHAKA, March 28, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks finished the week down on Thursday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 64.66 points down at 5,505.50. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 24.31 points down at 1,968.68 and with 2.97 points down at 1,281.46 respectively.
Out of the 352 issues traded on DSE, 146 gained against 169 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value declined by 15.94 per cent to Taka 361.51 crore and the average trade volume fell by 15.67 per cent to 6.89 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Agrani Insurance, JMI Syringes and Medical Devices, Monno Ceramic Industries, Kay and Que and Golden Harvest Agro Industries.
The major losing issues of the week were Singer Bangladesh, Marico Bangladesh, Popular Life Insurance, Rupali Life Insurance and Vanguard AML Rupali Bank Balanced Fund.
The top five turnover leaders were Kay and Que, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, British American Tobacco Bangladesh, Singer Bangladesh and Monno Ceramic Industries.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 227.61 points lower at 16,881.28.
