Rangpur to become free from Chikungunya, Dengu soon

RANGPUR, Mar 28, 2019 (BSS) – Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman
Mostafa has said Rangpur would become a clean city soon free from
‘Chikungunya’, ‘Dengu’ and Malaria diseases with adequate and hygienic civic
amenities for citizens.

He said this while launching a month-long ‘Mosquito Elimination
Programme-2019’ on the Shyamasundari Canal at a function held in Ward No-18
in the city on Wednesday as the chief guest, a press release said today.

Mostafa inaugurated the mosquito elimination programme of Rangpur City
Corporation (RpCC) by spraying insecticides in the canal and the process will
continue during the next one month in all 33 wards of the city.

With Chief of the Conservancy Division of RpCC Shahinur Rahman Shahin in
the chair, City Councilors Muntaseer Shaminm Laiko, Mahbubar Rahman Manjur,
Saiful Islam Fulu and Assistant Conservancy Officer Hassam Rahi attended the
function.

Shahin discussed the utter essence of maintaining cleanliness at
drainage and sewerage systems, office premises, institutions and homesteads
in the city to prevent breeding of mosquito and keep the environment clean.

“Alongside with the month-long mosquito elimination programmes, the RpCC
has been conducting the Clean City Campaign to maintain sustainable
cleanliness in the city.” Shahin said.

Mayor Mostafa directed all concerned for maintaining cleanliness at office
premises, institutions, homesteads and drainage and sewerage systems in the
city.

He sought assistance of all citizens in making the mosquito elimination
programme successful to maintain cleanliness and improve the city environment
and reduce extent of all mosquito-related diseases.

he said “All of the drainage and sewerage systems and other places will
be cleaned up and insecticides be sprayed to destroy mosquitoes in a shorter
period in the city,”.
