DHAKA, March 27, 2019 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today urged
Thailand to ease the visa process for Bangladeshi nationals.

“Huge number of Bangladeshis visit Thailand on regular basis for
different purposes and the numbers are increasing day by day, however, they
have to face complexities due to time consuming visa process so Thailand
should ease their visa facility,” he added.

The minister was addressing the opening ceremony of a four-day “Top Thai
Brands-2019” in a city hotel as chief guest.

Tipu Munshi said the existing bilateral relation between the two
countries is being strengthened day by day, but the trade deficit is still
against Bangladesh.

He said Bangladesh is offering various policy supports to the foreign
investors and it has improved a lot in ease of doing business. “If the Thai
businessmen invest in Bangladesh, the trade deficit would narrow further,” he
added.

BIDA Chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam and Charge the Affairs of Thai Embassy
in Dhaka Kraichok Arunpairojkul also spoke on the occasion.

Aminul Islam said Bangladesh is fully prepared for foreign investors.
Both Bangladesh and Thailand would contribute to the development of each
other if they work as partners, he opined.

Recently, Thai company Siam Siam International and Bangladesh Economic
Zone Authority (BEZA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to invest $
50 crore to Naf National Tourism Park.

Kraichok Arunpairojkul said the Thai government is giving priority for
the development of economic relation with Bangladesh through expanding
bilateral trade.

A total of 76 organizations are showcasing their products in the trade
show which includes healthcare, cosmetics, food, spa, stationeries, domestic
appliances, fruits, textiles, fabric, handbags, confectionaries.

The fair would remain open for all from 10am to 8pm till March 30.
