DHAKA, March 6, 2018 (BSS) -President M Abdul Hamid today asked guardians and teachers to be more active to keep the children away from doing any misdeed or immoral activities and ensure quality education to make them well-educated.
“Success without morality is not accepted anyway . . . It’s our moral responsibility to start each learner’s early education on a strong base that would help end the incident of question-paper leak and adoption of unfair means in the examinations,” the President said at the inaugural function of the National Primary Education Week-2018 at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here in the afternoon.
Referring to recent media reports in this connection where a section of teachers and guardians were found involved, President Hamid said parents want to see the success of their children but success without morality cannot be accepted at all.
As the foundation of education is built from the primary school, the President said the teachers can help make each child an ideal nation-builder with their principles and ideals.
“The teachers can create leadership quality among the students and give them actual idea about good or bad things which would be helpful for the development of the country and nation,” he suggested.
Abdul Hamid urged the teachers to become initiators and more committed to nurture patriotism in the students.
It is possible to realize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by transforming country’s huge population into human resources by providing them with modern, science-based and realistic education, the President said.
Terming the children future of the nation, Abdul Hamid urged the guardians to behave friendly with their children and make them well aware of the healthy competition among themselves.
“Children always deserve friendly behaviour from their parents and physical and mental nurturing is mandatory for the normal growth of a child,” the president added.
Mentioning different development activities of the present government, he said the education sector has been given top priority for achieving sustainable and balanced development of the country alongside nurturing the spirit of Liberation War, exercising democratic values, flourishing non-communal thoughts, preserving environment and achieving Vision-2021 in line with the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ concept.
Earlier, President Hamid distributed awards among the nominated best teachers and winners of the inter-primary school cultural competition in the function.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman Fijar presided over the programme. Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on primary and mass education M Motahar Hossain and Secretary Mohammad Asif-Uz-Zaman also spoke.
