Bangladesh to be poverty free by 2030: Kamal

DHAKA, March 25, 2019 (BSS)-Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said Bangladesh will become a 100 percent poverty and hunger-free country by 2030 as various poverty alleviation programmes undertaken by the government are being implemented successfully across the country.

“Bangladesh is moving forward under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The country will attain double digit growth within the next four years, current trends show. And the country will become a developed one within 2041,” he said.

The finance minister was speaking as chief guest at a discussion on “Bangabandhu and Economic Emancipation of the Bengalis” at the Bangladesh Bank (BB) headquarters in the city.

Bangabandhu Parishad of the Bangladesh Bank unit organised the discussion marking the Independence and National Day-2019.

BB Governor Fazle Kabir attended the meet as special guest, while BB deputy governors Ahmed Jamal and SM Moniruzzaman also took part in the discussion.

Kamal said Bangladesh has achieved remarkable success in the past ten years and the country has attained 41st position among the largest economies in the world in 2019.

“Bangladesh will be among the 20 richest countries of the world by 2041,” he added.

Paying rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the finance minister said Bangladesh has achieved remarkable development and progress for attaining economic emancipation as the country has already been acclaimed as a role model across the world.

He urged all, including BB officials, to work together for achieving the development goals and making Bangladesh a happy and prosperous country as dreamt by the Father of the Nation.
