Call to honour freedom fighters with due respect

RANGPUR, Mar 25, 2019 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud today said the nation must pay due honour to freedom fighters to uphold the glorious spirit and history of the War of Liberation.

“The patriotism of the freedom fighters is tested for their participation in the War of Liberation without thinking anything about themselves……they are best sons and daughters of the soil,” Alim said.

He said as the chief said at a function held here to accord reception to three valiant freedom fighters for their extra ordinary contributions and heroism during the War of Liberation in 1971.

Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organised the function at its auditorium with its President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu in the chair.

Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostoba Hossain Ripon delivered welcome speech and urged the young students to nurture spirit of the War of Liberation in their studies as well as to differentiate between rights and wrongs to become patriotic citizens.

Former District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, its former city unit Commander Sadrul Alam Dulu, teacher of Millennium Stars School and College Rashedul Hasan and students of class nine Annannnya Bhattacharya spoke.

A documentary film, produced by RCCI, on heroism of the three valiant foredoom fighters Khondker Golam Mostafa Batul, Md. Shamsul Haque and Md. Mozaffar Hossain of Rangpur was screened in the function.

The chief guest distributed gifts among the three valiant freedom fighters for their extra ordinary heroism during the War of Liberation in 1971. The speakers said the nation has got an independent sovereign Bangladesh because the heroic Bengali boys and girls spontaneously participated in the Great War
of Liberation after being inspired by the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Bangabandhu.

The RpMP Commissioner said the country is progressing rapidly toward prosperity with the visions 2021 and 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in spirit of the War of Liberation.

The RCCI President said consciousness of the War of Liberation should always be cherished in heart to spread among the younger generations for realising the dream of building a Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu.
