BEZA plans for one lakh acres land to establish 100 EZs

 DHAKA, Mar 5, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) is planning for one lakh acres land to establish 100 Economic Zones (EZs) across the country, said BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury here today.

“BEZA has already acquired 75,000 acres land . . . It has already reformed necessary legal framework to boost investment in EZs,” he said while meeting with Directors of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by its President Abul Kasem Khan at BEZA office in the city, said a press release.

With the technical support of JICA, Paban Chowdhury said, BEZA is going to establish a global standard ‘One Stop Service Desk’ which will be fully in operation by December this year.

To get benefits from EZs, Abul Kasem Khan underscored the need for ensuring direct waterways, port and road connectivity.

He said a synergy can be made between PPP Authority and BEZA in facilitating new foreign and private investment for EZ development and promote the EZs and plots to attract potential foreign investors.

Among others, BEZA Executive Members Mohammed Ayub and M Harunur Rashid were also present at the meeting.
