EED implements Tk 361.31cr projects in Rajshahi, C’nawabganj

RAJSHAHI, March 5, 2018 (BSS) – Education Engineering Department (EED) has implemented 981 schemes under 14 major development projects at a cost of around Taka 361.31 crore in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj districts during last nine years.

At present, the department has been executing two projects with an estimated cost of around Taka 30 crore. The works are scheduled to complete be June next.

“We have constructed necessary infrastructure at selected private collages in order to quality education improvement with assistance of information and communication technology,” said Mijanur Rahman, Executive Engineer of EED.

Necessary Infrastructures of 148 colleges were improved with an estimated cost of around Taka 136.83 crore. Physical infrastructures and furniture of 97 private schools were ensured by spending around Taka 60.64 crore.

Academic building construction of 29 madrasas was completed at a cost of around Taka 17.95 crore. Infrastructure development works were implemented in 12 district headquarter-based post-graduation colleges at a cost of around Taka 22.92 crore for quality improvement of those.

“We upgraded and repaired eight upazila level private schools to model ones where there is no government high school by spending around Taka 8.42 crore,” Engineer Rahman added.

New building of 79 government and private institutions were constructed by spending Taka 45.08 crore. Repairing, renovation and furniture supply works of 258 government and private schools were implemented at a cost of around Taka 17.12 crore.

At a cost of around Taka 5.30 crore, work on improvement of education environment has been completed in six madrasas with financial support from Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

Secondary Education Improvement Programme was implemented in 27 schools by spending Taka 3.47 crore.

“We have started construction of two technical school and colleges in Charghat and Nachole upazilas with an estimated cost of around Taka 30 crore,” he said adding that the institutions will contribute a lot towards expansion of technical education here.

Construction of EED’s regional headquarters and district office buildings was completed at a cost of around Taka 3.89 crore, he added.
