SYLHET, March 3, 2018 (BSS) – Writer and educationist Professor Zafar Iqbal today visibly sustained a knife attack at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus with head injury while students at the scene captured the yet to be identified assailant sending the teacher to a hospital.
Doctors Osmani Medical College Hospital said the eminent scientist, however, was out of danger and was being treated for the head injury as he was immediately rushed to the facility.
“Prof Zafar Iqbal received injuries on the back part of his head,” Sylhet Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner (media) Abdul Wahab told newsmen.
SUST student Asif Ajhar, who witnessed the incident, said Iqbal came under attack just he was returning to ICT Bhaban of the campus after attending an academic festival of his Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE) department in the university’s central auditorium.
Iqbal is the head of the EEE department and a professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department at the SUST.
