7-member body to probe allegations over DUCSU polls

DHAKA, March 21, 2019 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) authorities today formed a seven-member committee to investigate the allegations of some candidates and panels over the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union polls.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman formed the committee and it was asked to submit its report within seven working days, said a DU press release.

Supernumerary Professor of Mathematics Department Sajeda Banu was made convener of the committee and assistant proctor of the university Dr. M. Maksudur Rahman its member secretary.

The other members are: Biological Sciences Faculty Dean Md. Imdadul Haque, Sir P. J. Hartog International Hall’s Provost Dr. Md. Mohiuddin, Economics Deapartment Chairperson Dr. Shafique uz Zaman, Syndicate member Mohammad Humayun Kabir and Professor of Nutrition and Food Science Institute Dr. Sharmin Rumi Alim.

Five panels- Progotishil Chhatra Oikya, Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakshan Parishad, Swadhikar Swatantra Parishad, Swatantra Jote and Bangladesh Chhatra Federation boycotted the polls on election day and gave written complaints to DU authorities bringing allegations of irregularities in DUCSU and hall union polls.
