DHAKA, March 21, 2019 (BSS) – Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar today said if anyone wants to know about Bangladesh, he or she has to know the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Bangladesh and Bangabandhu are two flowers at a petiole, so this relation would not be separated in anyhow,” he said.
The minister was addressing a discussion meeting to observe March 25-Mass Killing Day and National Independence Day as chief guest at BTRC Auditorium organized by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regularity Commission (BTRC).
“We have gotten independence due to the birth of Bangabandhu on this soil,” said Jabbar, adding people were the main strength of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman that is why he founded the Bangali nation.
But, through the killing of Bangabandhu in 1975 a heinous conspiracy was plotted to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan and pushed the country towards backwardness, he noted.
Recalling the contributions and sacrifices of Bangabandhu, the minister said Sheikh Mujibur Rahman spent 13 years in jail during the 23-years rule of Pakistan.
Referring to the birth centenary of Bangabandhu in 2020 and Golden Jubilee of Independence in 2021, the minister laid emphasis on adopting an appropriate work plan to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
BTRC Chairman Md Jahurul Haque and Commissioner Aminur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
