PIB training workshop on Digital Bangladesh held in Khulna

KHULNA, March 21, 2019(BSS) – A day-long training for journalists on
reporting related to Digital Bangladesh was held at the conference room of
Khulna Circuit House in the city today.

Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and Access to Information (a2i) of
Prime Minister’s Office jointly organised the training with the assistance of
USAID and UNDP.

Khulna deputy commissioner Md. Helal Hossain inaugurated the training
programme as chief guest with Director of PIB (Study -Training) Ilias Bhuiyan
in the chair.

Conducted by PIB trainer Shah Alam, Professor of Mass Communication and
Journalism Department of Rajshahi University Dr Pradeep Kumar Pandey,
Lecturer of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Khulna University
Shariful Islam, President and general secretary of Khulna Press Club S M
Habib and Md Shaheb Ali, among others, spoke.

The chief guest said that journalists should play pro-active and
responsible role to implement the Digital Bangladesh programmes. He said
media can play a vital role to carry out the programmes chartered out in the
Digital Bangladesh vision through their writings.

He said around 60 government and non government services are being provided
using digital technology across the country.

He said the system provides people with necessary information and update
about life insurance, land documents (Parcha),mobile banking, birth and death
registration, computer training, health, agriculture, electric bill and
others facilities. As such the day-to-day life of citizens are becoming
hassle free.

Other speakers said that the on-going digitisation process is creating
opportunity of self-employment across the country and speeding up services
with more transparency and accountability.

They said the Union Information Service Center (UISCs) is playing a
remarkable role to this end.
