Suprobhat Paribahan driver put on 7-day remand

DHAKA, March 20, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court put the driver of Suprobhat
Paribahan that crushed Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar
Ahmed Chowdhury to death, on seven-day remand.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari passed the order as
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station Aminul Islam produced the
driver Sirajul Islam, 24, before the court and pleaded for 10-day remand.

It was learned that Sirajul was competing with another bus and ran over
Abrar on Tuesday (March 19) morning as he was trying to cross the road. The
driver was driving the bus with the license of light vehicles.

Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a
case against the driver, his helper and owner of the bus last night with
Gulshan Police Station.

“We are trying to arrest the bus owner and helper and they would be brought
to justice soon,” the OC (operation) Aminul Islam told BSS.
