PM for raising consciousness to ensure oral health

DHAKA, March 19, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today called
upon the dental surgeons to put sincere efforts with their skills and merit
in ensuring oral health of people by raising consciousness among them.

“A large number of people in the world are suffering from tooth and mouth
ailments and other complex diseases for not taking care of oral health
properly. I am urging the Bangladesh Dental Society to continue all-out
efforts to ensure proper oral health,” she said in a message on the eve of
the ‘World Oral Health Day’ to be observed under the initiative of Bangladesh
Dental Society tomorrow.

The premier said it is must to build a healthy nation to materialize the
Visions 2021 and 2041 in building a developed and prosperous Bangladesh.
“Since 2009, we have been implementing various programmes to develop the
health sector,” she added.

The prime minister said National Health Policy, Bangladesh Population
Policy, Bangabandhu Medical University Act, Bangladesh Medical and Dental
Council Act, Blood Transfusion Act and smoking and tobacco control act have
been formulated to make the health system time-befitting.

Newer medical, dental and nursing colleges, institutes, medical assistant
training schools and health technology institutes have been constructed to
this end, she said.
