DHAKA, March 19, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh has issued travel advisory for its entire citizen living in Australia or New Zealand or intending to visit those countries following the deadly shooting at two mosques in Christchurch leaving 50 deaths on Friday last.
“Bangladesh nationals living in Australia and Bangladesh nationals travelling to Australia are advised to be vigilant at all times, particularly in public places, stay informed of potential risks to safety and security by monitoring the media and other local information sources,” the foreign affairs ministry posted the advisory to its website today.
The ministry also posted a separate travel advisory today to its website for New Zealand saying Bangladesh nationals travelling New Zealand should have a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes provision for medical evacuation by air.
The advisory advised Bangladesh origins there to be vigilant at all times, particularly in public places, and stay informed of potential risks to safety and security by monitoring the media and other local information sources.
“We recommend exercising caution around potential attack targets such as mosques, restaurants, markets, shopping malls, conference centres, public transport hubs, etc.,” it added.
As a background both the advisories mentioned that an Australian named Brenton Tarrant, has been charged for killing 50 people and injuring 48 people with gun attacks on worshippers in two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on 15 March 2019.
Five people of Bangladesh origin died and three were injured by the gun attack. The Australian man charged over twin mosque attacks alleged as a White Supremacist.
Before perpetrating the attack on worshippers, he declared himself a “racist” in his 74 page manifesto containing slogans, poems and diatribes against immigrants and Muslims. Diatribe
Hours after the shocking attack on two mosques in New Zealand, an Australian Senator issued a statement blaming mosque massacre on Muslims and expressed growing fear within Australian community of the increasing Muslim presence in Australia and New Zealand.
Such extremist stand from an Australian Lawmaker triggers fears of hatreds of racisms in Australia, warned the advisories.
