Independence Day programmes in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 02, 2018 (BSS) -The district administration at a meeting here on Thursday adopted an elaborate programme to celebrate the Independence and National Day 2018 on March 26 next.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman presided over the meeting in his conference room.

Freedom Fighters, leaders of Awami League (AL) and other political parties, heads of government departments and educational institutions, representatives of the socio-cultural, professional and voluntary organisations and law enforcement agencies officials took part in the
meeting.

Deputy Director (Local Government) Ruhul Amin Mian, Additional Police Super Saifur Rahman, District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, vice-presidents of city AL Shamim Talukder and Shah Md Nabiullah Panna, publicity secretary of district AL Rosy Rahman and general secretary of city Mohila AL Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, among others, addressed.

Heads of different government departments and representatives of Rangpur City Corporation, District Muktijoddha Sangsad, educational institutions and socio-cultural organisations also spoke.

The celebration will begin through heralding 31 gun salutes at Police Lines ground and placing of wreaths at Central Shaheed Minar, Swadhinota Smriti Stambha `Arjan’ and monuments of martyred freedom fighters in the city at zero hours on the day.

The daylong programmes include hoisting of the national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings and educational institutions.

Colourful rallies, march pasts of the Freedom Fighters, police, Ansar-VDP, scouts, girls in scout, fire service and civil defense personnel, jail guards, BNCC, students, children and screening of documentary films at cinema halls and open places will be organised.

Shooting and drawing competitions, charity football match, colourful cultural functions and prize distribution ceremonies and discussion meetings will be organised.

The main streets and roadside islands will be decorated with the national flag, posters and miniatures and the government, semi-government and private buildings will be illuminated in the evening in Rangpur city.

The Freedom Fighters, family members of martyred Freedom Fighters and relatives will be accorded receptions and special discussion on the War of Liberation and independence for women will be arranged at different venues.

The authorities concerned will organise special prayers at all mosques, temples, pagodas and churches and serve improved diets to the inmates of all hospitals, jails, vagabond centers, Shishu Paribars and orphanages.

Rangpur kendra of Bangladesh Betar will air special programmes and local dailies, weeklies, monthlies and online newspapers will publish special supplements glorifying importance and dignity of the day.

The district administration will arrange the main discussion meeting on the Central Shaheed Minar premises followed by a colourful cultural function at night on the day.
