Speakers plead for budgetary priority to education sector

RAJSHAHI, March 2, 2018 (BSS)-Speakers at a participatory discussion
unequivocally called for boosting budgetary allocation to the sector of
education for its qualitative and quantitative improvement.

They mentioned that the country’s cherished development depends on
education. So, there is no way but to making the country’s education as the
thrust sector.

Budgetary allocation needs to be enhanced for the sector for its
substantial and sustainable development.

The observation came at a consultation on education budget in the city on
Thursday.

Association for Community Development (ACD) and Campaign for Popular
Education (CAMPE) jointly organized the discussion at ACD conference hall.

District Children Affairs Officer Monzur Kader and Panel Mayor of Rajshahi
City Corporation Nurunnahar Begum addressed the meeting as chief and special
guests respectively with ACD Project Officer Hafiz Uddin in the chair.

CAMPE Divisional Coordinator Abdur Rouf and ACD Project Coordinator
Ehsanul Amin presented two keynote papers giving an overview of the country’s
education sector.

Taking part in the discussion, many other participants put forward a set
of recommendations and stressed the need for political commitment to make the
country’s education as a thrust sector.

Many of the national problems including over-population, poverty and
unemployment could be solved if the light of education reached all.

They called for qualitative and quantitative girls’ education especially
in the rural areas for the sake of overall rural and urban development.
