Country witnesses considerable progress: Mustafizur

RAJSHAHI, March 1, 2018 (BSS) – Primary and Mass-education Minister Mustafizur Rahman, MP, today said the country has witnessed significant progress during the tenure of the present government.

“The government is continuously working to achieve the status of middle- income nation by 2021,” he said while inaugurating the fourth biannual conference of Sociology Alumni at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium in Rajshahi University (RU) here today as chief guest.

He said the government has taken a number of steps including nationalization of primary schools to expand education in the country.

Multimedia classrooms had already been introduced at 12,000 government primary schools out of 65,000. Besides, students both in rural and urban areas are getting stipend equally, he added.

The minister said, adding the government is pledge-bound to ensure qualitative and quantitative primary education for the sake of freeing the nation from the curse of illiteracy.

With former VC of RU Prof Mijan Uddin in the chair, VC of Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University Prof Mustafizur Rahman, Social Science Faculty Dean Prof Foizer Rahman, Prof Kamal Ahmed Chowdhury from Shah Jalal Science and Technology University, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Prof Mahbubur Rahman and Additional Secretary to Land Ministry Salma Akhter Jahan also spoke.
