DHAKA, March 1, 2018 (BSS) – The third span of the Padma Bridge would be installed in the second week of this month, an official of Bridges Division told BSS today.

“This is the third of the 41 spans for the 6.15km Padma Multipurpose Bridge. It took four months to be fully ready,” he said.

The Padma Bridge would see a significant development with the installation of the third span and construction of the bridge is gradually being visible for successful advancement of major activities.

Each of the spans is being installed on 120-feet high from water level of the Padma river and a four-lane road would be constructed on these spans.

The Bridge Division sources said the first span was set up on September 30, 2017 and the second on January 27.

The official said a significant portion of piling of the Padma Bridge will be completed within the month of June this year.

Of the 42 pillars of the Padma Bridge, the construction of 26 is going on, they added.

The bridge, which will connect the country’s southern region to the capital, will hugely boost communications and trade and economic activities.
