SANGSAD BHABAN, March 11, 2019 (BSS) – Veteran parliamentarian and Awami
League Advisory Council member Amir Hossain Amu today said there is no
alternative to the Awami League government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina, to continue the country’s development.

“The anti-liberation forces never see the country’s success that took
place during the AL government (in the last 10 years). They always remain
busy in creating anarchy in the country,” he said while taking part in the
discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the President’s address delivered in
Jatiya Sangsad on January 30, 2019.

Referring to various development works being carried out in the country,
Amu said Bangladesh has already become a member of the elite satellite club
by sending Bangabandhu-1 satellite into the orbit while the works of Dhaka
Rapid Transit Project and Metro Rail Project continue in the city.

Informing the House that almost half of the total work of Padma Bridge
project has already completed, he said the Matarbari power plant project,
Karnaphuli tunnel construction project and many other development projects
are underway here.

“To complete the ongoing projects, people of the country voted to Awami
League for assuming state power,” Amu said, adding that the government
announced the Delta Plan-2100 for sustainable water management.

He said there is no alternative to the Awami League government to implement
the ongoing projects and the Delta Plan and that’s why people cast their
votes to the AL.

Blaming BNP not to join parliament, the AL leader said people voted BNP
candidates to win in the 11th general elections and to join in parliament.
“Now, it is the question of people why they are not joining parliament,” he
said, adding the every step that BNP took in the past was against the
interest of common people.

Highlighting the country’s progress that took place in its different
sectors in the last 10 years, he said the government has taken an imitative
to set up 100 economic zones in the country.

“Once the economic zones are established, nobody will remain unemployed
here,” Amu said. “Meanwhile, many foreign investors have shown interest to
invest in those economic zones,” he added.

The veteran parliamentarian said the government resolved the long-pending
enclave disputes with India, so more than 50,000 people got valid
citizenship.

Bangladesh has already resolved the maritime boundary disputes with
neighbouring India and Myanmar, he said, adding “That is why the country has
a vast marine boundary and marine resources.”

Noting that the country’s GDP increased four times in the last 10 years, he
said child mortality rate now declined to only 24 percent from 41 percent in
2008.

“About 1.95 new power connections were given to people in the last 10
years,” Amu said.
