DHAKA, 27 Feb, 2018 (BSS) – Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said today that academia had to urgently take up the task of combating the threats of militancy, corruption and inequity.

The minister was inaugurating the biennial conference of Bangladesh Chattra League (pro-JASHOD) at the Arts’ Building premises of Dhaka University.

Recalling the glorious past of the organization, he said, “The Chattra League has a glorious history and I am sure they will go on to fight the battle against militancy, corruption and inequity with the same zeal. They will be victorious, one day, with red flag in hand.”

Describing the university teachers as the beacon of society, he said, they have provided guidance whenever the country was in crisis-be it in politics, economics or society.

He called upon them to refrain from partisanship and hunger for power.

Inu, once again, reminded his audience that after the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country had walked backwards.

The reactionary, pro-Pakistani forces want to make this country another Pakistan or Afghanistan, he said.
