Govt strengthening prosecution for quick disposal of sensational cases:

SANGSAD BHABAN, March 11, 2019 (BSS)- Law, Justice and Parliamentary
Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today told the parliament that the government has
been working to strengthen prosecution teams for quick disposal of the
sensational cases.
“Two separate monitoring cells formed at Law and Justice Division and Home
Ministry has been working for quick disposal of the cases. The courts across
the country are also working to this end,” he said while replying to a tabled
question by a treasury bench lawmaker Md Mozaffar Hossain from Jamalpur-5
constituency.
Anisul added that 41 more tribunals out of 95 have been formed afresh
across the country for quick completion of the sensational cases relating to
repression on women and children, saying, “The rape case at Raintree Hotel is
now at the stage of taking deposition.”
While seven anti-terrorism special tribunals have been working to quick
complete the sensational cases filed under Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009, he also
said.
Recommendation is now being prepared to take measures for quick disposal of
the five to 10 years old sensational criminal cases as the case management
committee has been formed at each of the district to this end, he continued.
Among the sensational cases, 10-truck arms haul case, BDR mutiny and murder
cases, child murder cases including Rajon of Sylhet and Rakib of Khulna,
seven murder case of Narayanganj, Japani citizen Kunio Hoshi murder case and
Saudi citizen Khalaf murder case have already been disposed of, he informed.
Besides, Barapukuria Coal Mine Case against detained former Prime Minister
Begum Khaleda Zia is now at the stage of taking deposition while Niko and
Gatco corruption cases against her are at the stage of hearing on charge
framing, Anisul said.
A sedition case against fugitive BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman is
now at the stage of taking deposition.
The sensational case of 2006 regarding the plot of killing Information
Technology Adviser to Prime Minister Sajeeb Wazed Joy has reached at the
stage of taking deposition.
The sensational cases such as Holey Artisan murder case, Prof Humayun Azad
murder case, bomb attack in CBP rally, blogger Washequr Rahman murder case,
Italian citizen Cesare Tavella murder case, Wills Little Flower School
student Sumaiya murder case are now at the stage of taking deposition.
