NARAYANGANJ, Feb 26, 2018 (BSS) – At least nine people were killed and 25 others injured as a bus hit a standing lorry on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sonargaon upazila of the district today.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Among the dead are two children, four women and three men.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon police station MA Haque said the accident took place in Tribardi area at noon when a Chittagong-bound bus of ‘City MD Paribahan’ hit the lorry which was parked at the roadside, as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two passengers of the bus dead on the spot and 30 others injured.
Of the injured, five succumbed to their injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and two others died after being taken to a local hospital.
