Exploring potential of SME sector to boost uplift underscored

 RANGPUR, Feb 26, 2018 (BSS) – Exploring potential of the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector would create more job opportunities for unemployed youths to boost uplift and enhance economic growth in strengthening the national economy.

The observation came at a post-rally discussion arranged on Sunday afternoon on the occasion of the launching ceremony of the seven-day Regional SME Product Fair- 2018 being organised by the SME Foundation on the Public Library ground in the city.

The district administration, Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RWCCI), National Association of Small and Cottage Industries Bangladesh (NASIB) and other SME- related organisations are extending assistance in arranging the fair.

The main objective of the fair is to promote the local SME sector, enhance production of international standard SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Minu Shill formally launched the fair by cutting ribbon at the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman in the chair.

Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, RCCI President Alhaj Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu, Deputy General Manager of BSCIC for Rangpur Khairul Alam Almazee General Secretary of city Awami League Tushar Kanti Mandal addressed as special guests.

Seventy-five SME institutions from all over Rangpur division, women entrepreneurs, RCCI and RWCCI have set up their respective stalls in the fair.

A huge spectrum of locally produced SME goods including leather products, jute-made products, handicrafts, processed agricultural products, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, design and fashion wares and other products are being exhibited in the fair.

Taking part in the discussion, the speakers put special importance on involving more female entrepreneurs with flourishing of the local SME sector to accelerate the pace of national development, economic growth and poverty alleviation.

Titu put emphasis on further easing the process of allocating SME loans to flourish the sector and ensure production of international standard SME products to enhance export facing challenges of globalised free trade economy system.

The chief guest laid emphasis on involving more female entrepreneurs with the SME sector to enhance development, national economic growth and poverty alleviation to take the country ahead and enhancing national economy.
