Afghan army kills 28 insurgents: govt

KABUL, Feb 26, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – At least 28 insurgents were killed and
nine others injured in separate incidents across Afghanistan on Sunday,
Afghan Defense Ministry said Monday.

In Pashtun Kot district of northern Faryab province, 16 insurgents were
killed and six others wounded during an army’s cleanup operation, the
ministry said in a statement.

Six militants were killed in Garmser district of southern Helmand province
after Afghan air force struck a Taliban position during which an insurgents’
hideout was also destroyed.

In eastern Laghman province, three militants were killed and three others
injured following a cordon operation while three militants lost their lives
after an airstrike in Chemtal district of northern Balkh province.

The Taliban insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency of more
than 16 years, has yet to make comments.
