DHAKA, Feb 25, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock at the death of ex-mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister recalled with profound respect the contribution of Jhantu to the development of Rangpur city. “His death is an irreparable loss to Rangpur as well as the country,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Jhantu, also a former parliament member and an advisory council member of Rangpur district Awami League, breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital here at around 3:30 pm. He was 66.
He was admitted to the hospital on February 4 following a brain haemorrhage.
