IU emerges champion in Inter-Univ basketball tourney
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, March 5, 2019 (BSS) – The Islamic University (IU)
basketball team emerged as champions in the Bangladesh Inter University
Basketball Tournament-2019 beating Jahangirnagar University (JU) by 90-55
points.
The final match was held at the gymnasium on the Islamic University (IU)
campus in Kushtia on Tuesday.
Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari
handed over the trophies among the winner’s as the chief guest through a
prize giving ceremony.
IU Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shaninoor Rahman presided over the prize giving
ceremony while its Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha addressed as the
special guest.
University’s acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, IU Syndicate member Professor
Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Students’ Advisor Professor Dr Paresh Chandra Barman
and Director of Physical Education department Mohammad Sohel were present on
the function.
Besides, Dhaka University (DU) won the 3rd place at the tournament
defeating Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on the day.
A total of seven public universities participated in the tournament, which
started on March 1.
