All set to celebrate March 7 in Rangpur city

RANGPUR, March 5, 2019 (BSS) – Local Awami League (AL), its associate
bodies and many other organisations have taken day-long programmes and
completed preparations to celebrate the historic March 7 in the city on
Thursday.

Celebration of the day has got special significance following inclusion
of the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman in the Memory of World International Register maintained by
UNESCO in 2017.

Local AL leaders said the day will be celebrated to further consolidate
national unity like that in 1971 for building a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by
Bangabandhu under leadership of his able daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina.

The district and city units of AL, its associate bodies including
Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchasebak League (SSL), Krishak League,
Sramik League, socio-cultural and professional organisations will celebrate
the day through various programmes.

The programmes include hoisting of the national and party flags at
district and city AL offices, placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders and
discussions.

The District Shilpokola Academy will organise different competitions for
the children and prizes will be distributed among winners of the competitions
in celebration of the historic day.

An ‘Ananda Shobhayatra’, with participation of leaders and workers of AL
and its associate bodies, will be brought out from the district AL office at
Betpotti area to the Bangabandhu Square and wreaths will be placed at the
Mural of Bangabandhu there.

The epoch-making historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu delivered at the
then Race Course Maidan, now Suhrawardy Uddyan, will be played throughout the
day in the city and important places all over the district.

The main discussion will be held at the party’s district unit office in
Betpotti area of the city with Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin
Ahmed in the chair.

Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, General Secretary of
district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, city AL President Shafiur Rahman
Shafi and General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, among others, will address
the discussion.

Talking to BSS today, Office Secretary of district AL Tauhidur Rahman
Tutul said the main discussion would highlight importance of the March 7
speech of Bangabandhu in the history of Bangladesh and War of Liberation.
