DHAKA, March 01, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today urged the Election Commission (EC) to take initiative to include all eligible citizens into voter list.
“…you also have to remain on guard so that no person can become voter in several places,” he said.
The minister said these while addressing a function organized by the EC organized at its auditorium at Agargaon here on the occasion of “National Voters’ Day”.
President M Abdul Hamid addressed the function as chief guest, while the law minister was the special guest on the occasion. Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam presented welcome speech at the function.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda, EC Commissioners Mahbub Talukder, Md Rafiqul Islam, and Brigadier General (Retd) Shahadot Hossain Chowdhury, EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed and secretaries concerned to the President, among others, were also present.
The law minister further said the government of Sheikh Hasina believes in the full independence of the EC for conducting polls.
“The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina provided all kinds of supports to the EC and will do the same in the future,” he added.
