KUSHTIA, Feb 23, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said BNP is making irrelevant comments over party chief Begum Khaleda Zia’s conviction in a graft case to find solace in the wake of crises.

“Khaleda Zia has already been convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. There is no scope for a convicted person to take part in polls. To find solace in the crisis period, the BNP leaders are making irrelevant comments,” he told newsmen after exchanging views with local leaders and workers of AL at his residence here.

Hanif said the next parliament election will be held in line with the constitution. Those who are eligible for contesting in the election as per law they will take part in it, he added.

The AL leader said if Begum Zia becomes ineligible, election will be held keeping her away.

Kushtia district Awami League Senior Vice-President and Zila Parishad Chairman Hazi Rabiul Islam, Kushtia town AL President Ajgar Ali and General Secretary Ataur Rahman Ata, among others, were present on the occasion.
