Vocational training for employments of ethnic youths stressed

RANGPUR, Feb 27, 2019 (BSS) – Officials at an orientation meeting have
stressed on providing vocational training to ethnic youths on different
trades to turn them into skilled workforce for their employments both at home
and abroad.

The district administration jointly with Rangpur Technical Training Centre
(TTC), Practical Action Bangladesh and RDRS Bangladesh organised the meeting
at conference room of Rangpur TTC on Tuesday afternoon, a press release said
today.

Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib addressed the meeting as the chief guest
with Principal of Rangpur TTC Engineer Md. Lutfar Rahman in the chair.
Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer TMA Momin, Divisional Manager of Practical
Acting Bangladesh Mohammad Nehal Azmat Mohi, its Education Specialist Rafikul
Islam and Vice-president of NNMC Partho Bose were present as special guests.

Fifty male and female youths of the ethnic minority communities of
Kadirabad union in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur attended the orientation
meeting. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner with ethnic youths visited
activities of Rangpur TTC where technical and vocational training courses are
being on 22 technical and vocational courses under eight trades to produce
skilled human workforce.

Engineer Rahman said around 18,000 youths were admitted at Rangpur TTC
that has produced 16,000 skilled youth human workforces on 22 technical and
vocational courses under eight trades and some 2,000 youths are currently
undergoing training.

“About 12,000 of the trained youths have been employed at local and
foreign industries, factories, offices and enterprises and around 6,650 of
them, including over 2,400 female youths, are working abroad in seventeen
countries,” he said.

“On completion of courses at Rangpur TTC, many local employing industries,
factories and organisations are directly appointing the trained workforce and
overseas employment recruiting agencies appointing them in foreign
countries,” Rahman added.

The Deputy Commissioner said the government is working relentlessly to
ensure inclusive development of people, including backward ethnic
communities, on way to attain the sustainable development goals by 2030.

“After completing training on different technical and vocational courses as
per their own choice at Rangpur TTC, the ethnic youths would get jobs both at
home and abroad to change their fortune and contribute to national progress,”
he said.
