SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 26, 2019 (BSS) – The Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad in an amended form in order to make the participation in the national parliament elections widespread and easier as well as expedite the elections operation.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haq placed the bill in the Jatiya Sangsad which was unanimously moved to the parliamentary standing committee by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Piloting the bill, the minister said the proposed bill will replace and amend the Representation of the People Order, 1972.
The law minister urged the parliament to send the proposed bill to the parliamentary standing body for providing report within a day.
