Enhancing savings practice stressed for prosperous Bangladesh

RANGPUR, Feb 23, 2019 (BSS) – With continuous advancement of country in every sector, creating awareness among common citizens to enhance their savings practice has become imperative for building a prosperous Bangladesh.

Government officials made these observations today at a post-rally discussion arranged at the inaugural function of the weeklong ‘Savings Campaign and Motivation Programme- 2019’ held at Town Hall auditorium here.

The District Savings Office has chalked out week-long awareness building programmes, including discussions and colourful rallies, across the district aiming at inspiring common citizens for enhancing their savings practice.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana inaugurated the observance programmes with leading a huge rally that paraded the city streets from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises as the chief guest.

Hundreds of students and teachers of different educational institutions, rover scouts, officials, employees, civil society members, professional and socio-cultural activists and local elite participated in the rally.

Divisional Deputy Director of Rangpur Divisional Savings Office Md. Moharam Ali addressed the post-rally discussion as the chief guest with Assistant Director (In-charge) at the District Savings Office Md. Mominul Islam in the chair.

The speakers termed savings as the friend in hard times and put emphasis on enhancing savings habit of citizens to strengthen the national economy for building a self-reliant Bangladesh reducing dependence on foreign aids and assistance.

The chief guest urged everyone to inspire common citizens in practicing savings habit to accelerate uplift for speeding up the process of building a middle income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
