DCCI Foundation to give support to Chawkbazar fire victims
DHAKA, Feb 23, 2019 (BSS) – The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Foundation has decided to extend an interim support of Taka 25 lakh to the victims and injured of Chawkbazar (Churihatta) devastating fire incident.
The financial support to be given to express solidarity and sympathy to the bereaved and affected families, said a press release.
Besides, DCCI Foundation expressed deep shock and condolence at the unexpected loss of 67 lives.
The DCCI Foundation also urged upon the authorities concerned and all stakeholders to come up with a sustainable solution through discussions, otherwise the country may experience more Nimtoli like tragedy of 2010.
“DCCI Foundation thinks chemical is such a combustible substance that its transportation, business and warehousing should be maintained in a planned manner,” said the press release.
Citing that running chemical business, storing and dwelling under the same roof is very risky, the DCCI Foundation also urged the government to take necessary measures to prevent such incident in future.
