Huge polythene seized, Taka 50,000 fined in Rangpur
RANGPUR, Feb 22, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) seized 42
tonnes of banned polythene bags worth about Taka one crore and held a
polythene trader from Shalbon Mistripara area in the city on Thursday.
“The elite force produced held polythene trader Obaidul Islam, 32,
before a mobile court that sentenced him to three-month jail term without
labour and also fined him Taka 50,000 in this connection,” a press release
said this evening.
Obaidul Islam of Shalbon Mistripara area in the city under Kotwali Thana
of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
On a tip off, an operational team of the elite force from its Rangpur 13
Battalion headquarters conducted a sudden raid at three godowns of the
polythene trader there and seized the huge quantity of banned polythene
packed in several sacs.
“Similar types of special investigation are continuing in different
areas of Rangpur region to stop such illegal trade of polythene and
vulnerable goods aiming at saving the public health as well as environment,”
the release added.
