DHAKA, Feb 22, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul
Quader today said the government gave direction to shift all chemical godowns
from the Old Dhaka area.
“After the Nimtali incident, initiative was taken to shift the godowns
from the area but they re-establish those… Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has
already given instruction to all concerned authorities including the Dhaka
North City Corporation (DNCC) to relocate all kinds of chemical warehouses
from the Old Dhaka,” he said.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said this while
talking to reporters after visiting the Chawkbazar fire victims who are being
treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“The government is working to stop recurring of such incidents,” he said,
adding that BNP should not make any kind of politics with the incident.
Later, he distributed Taka one lakh each among the family members of nine
victims on behalf of AL.
