DHAKA, Feb 21, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said the government would lend its support to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to relocate the warehouses from different residential areas in the city.

“The DSCC is working to relocate the chemical warehouse from the residential areas. The government will work with the DSCC to build old part of the Dhaka as a planned city. We don’t want any loss of life,” he said.

Asaduzzaman came up with the remarks while talking to journalists after visiting the spot of deadly fire broke out in the city’s old part Chawkbazar in last night that claimed 68 lives so far.

The government will extend all sorts of support to overcome the losses of the devastating fire, he said.

Replying to a query, the home minister said the government issued an order for relocating the chemical warehouses and factories from the Chawkbazar area after the deadly 2010 blaze at Nimtoli.

But a section of traders restart their business at the same place, he added.
