NTMC to be made stronger to ensure country’s security: Kamal

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2019(BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said today that the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) would be made stronger to ensure security of the country.

The decision was made at a meeting at the NTMC office here this morning with home minister in the chair. Top officials of the law enforcement and intelligence agencies attended the meeting.

The NTMC was established in 2013 under the home ministry aimed at tighten the state security as well as to protect the nation from any sorts of security threat.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the home minister said that the criminals were taking advantages of digitalization before its inception.

Kamal said the meeting has decided to equip the NTMC with more modern logistics and skilled manpower.

The meeting also decided to form central data base as well as common platform so that other agencies can easily get necessary information instantly from the NTMC, he added.

Currently, law enforcement and intelligence agencies have been taking necessary data from the NTMC.

Replying to a question, he said that the NTMC keep surveillance on those who are suspected by intelligence agencies on the basis of specific information.
