All set to observe “International Mother Language Day” in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 20, 2019 (BSS) – All are set and a four-tier security
measures have been ensured to observe the “International Mother Language Day-
2019” in a befitting manner in the port city.

Different organisations and individuals have taken preparations to pay
homage to the Language Martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for establishing
the rightful place of the mother language in 1952 and inspired the nation to
launch movement for an independent country.

Different political parties including Bangladesh Awami League and its
associate bodies, Jatiya Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, CPB, NAP, Sammoybadi
Dal have finalized programmes to observe the day.

The programmes include placing of wreaths at Shaheed Minar at one minute
past zero hours (midnight tonight), hoisting of national flags at half-mast
atop all public and private buildings and holding mourning processions,
cultural function and photo exhibition.

Marking the day, the city streets will be adorned with miniature national
flags and coloured flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.

Besides, hand writing, drawing and singing competitions for children at
Shishu Academy were held on Wednesday to mark the day.

Special prayers at mosques, temples, pagodas and churches seeking divine
blessings for the souls of language martyrs will also be held.

The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and
district police have decided to enforce four-tier security measures in and
around the Central Shaheed Minar in the city and all Shaheed Minars at
upazilas head quarters by deploying 3,700 members of law enforcing agencies.
“Four-tier security measures have already been taken in Central Shaheed Minar
area for peaceful observation of the day.

Over 1,200 police personnel will be deployed in the Shaheed Minar and
adjoining areas to ensure security, said Additional Commissioner of CMP
Kushum Dewan in a press conference.

Apart from this, closed circuit camera televisions (CCTVs) will be
installed in Shaheed Minar areas while archway and metal detectors will be
set up at each of the entry point to make the security foolproof, he added.
