People brings AL to power for direct development benefit: lawmakers

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 18, 2019 (BSS) – Lawmakers today said
the mass people have brought the ruling Awami League (AL) in power
for four times since 1996 as they are getting direct benefit due to the
development of the various sectors by the ruling party.

The people have spontaneously mandated the ruling party as the
people is getting direct benefit from various sectors including
education, food security, social safety net and power generation for its
quick development by the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina.

Taking part in the discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the
President’s address in the Jatiya Sangsad on January 30, 2019, they
said president M Abdul Hamid in his address focused the development
of the various sector of the country and also has given a guideline on
how to reach the country to a target of a developed nation.

During the last 47 years since independence, the country had not
achieve anything significant during the past 28 and half years regime
by the governments led by other parties including BNP-Jammat, but
the ruling AL in the last eighteen and half years tenure had been able to
bring a drastic change in various sector, said former minister and
lawmaker Engineer Mosharraf Hossen of Chattagram-1.

The BNP-Jammat left the power in 2006-07with generating only 3200
megawatt electricity in the country, but now the country is generating
almost 20,400 megawatt electricity, he said.

In food production, country’s annual production has now exceeded by
3.60 crore metric ton, said the former Fisheries and Livestock Minister
Narayan Chandra Chanda of Khulna-5.

Bangladesh now has been achieved 4th position in rice production, 5th
position in vegetable production, 6th position in potato production and
10th position in mango production, the lawmaker added.

The lawmakers also thanked the President for giving a timely speech
highlighting the success stories of the government and guiding the
nation towards peace, progress and prosperity.

Earlier, they paid a rich tribute to the Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to
establishing an independent Bangladesh.

Joaherul Islam of Tangail-8, Ahsanul Islam Tito of Tangail-6,
opposition lawmaker Ahsan Adilur Rahman of Nilphamari-4, among
others, also spoke on the occasion.
