Govt to bring Sunamganj under railway connectivity
SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 18, 2019 (BSS) – The government will bring Sunamganj
district under railway connectivity so that hoar people can avail the rail
services at a cheaper cost.
“Bangladesh Railway is working to ensure the rail services for all safely and
at a cheaper cost,” Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan said while
responding to a starred question placed by lawmaker Pir Fazlur Rahman of
Sunmarganj-4 in the parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the
chair.
He said the government is trying its best to bring all districts under railway
connectivity aiming to make the rail services available for the country’s
people.
Sujan said the Planning Ministry has approved a feasibility and detailed
design project on January 22, 2019 to set up rail track in Sunamganj district.
‘An investment project’ will be taken after completing the feasibility study
project to set up rail line in Sunamganj Sadar, he said.
Replying to another starred question placed by lawmaker Gazi Mohammad
Shahnewaz (Habiganj-1), the railway minister said the procurement of 140
locomotives is underway to improve the services of Bangladesh Railway.
