Govt to provide assistance for raw jute procurement: minister
SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 18, 2019 (BSS) – Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir
Gazi said the government will provide assistance for procuring raw jutes.
“The Textile and Jute Ministry will not give any financial assistance for
establishing jute mills in the country, but will provide assistance for the
procurement of raw jute,” the minister said while responding to a starred
question placed by lawmaker Md Israfil Alam (Nogoan-6) in the parliament with
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Gazi said there are 26 jute mills in the country under the Bangladesh Jute
Mills Corporation (BJMC).
Besides, he said, a total of 281 private jute mills are in the country.
