16,000 skilled workforce produced at Rangpur TTC

RANGPUR, Feb 18, 2019 (BSS) – Rangpur Technical Training Centre (TTC)
has produced around 16,000 skilled youth workforce on 22 technical and
vocational courses under eight trades since its inception in 2008.

About 12,000 of the trained youths have been employed at different local and
foreign industries, factories, offices and enterprises and around 6,650 of
them, including over 2,400 female youths, are working abroad in seventeen
countries.

The information was disclosed at closing ceremony and pre-employment
counseling of two-month skill development training course on ‘Industrial
Sewing Machine Operation’ held at Rangpur TTC conference room here on Sunday.

Rangpur TCC organised the course on ‘Industrial Sewing Machine
Operation’ for 30 male and female youths, including six members of ethnic
minority communities, selected with assistance of Practical Action Bangladesh
and RDRS Bangladesh.

Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib attended the ceremony as chief guest with
Principal of Rangpur TTC Engineer Md. Lutfar Rahman in the chair.

Vocational Education and Job Placement Specialist of Practical Acting
Bangladesh Rafiquel Islam, District Coordinator (Training and Knowledge
Management) of the EC-PRISM Project of RDRS Bangladesh Rakibul Bahar and
Vice-president of NNMC Partho Bose were present as special guests.

In his welcome speech, Engineer Lutfar Rahman said around 18,000 youths
were admitted at Rangpur TTC since 2008 and some 16,000 of them already
completed trainings on various courses.

Over 2,000 male and female youths are undergoing training at Rangpur TTC
where language courses in Japanese, Arabic, English and Korean are also being
conducted in addition to technical and vocational trainings.

“On completion of courses at Rangpur TTC, many local industries,
factories and organisations are directly appointing the trained workforce and
overseas employment recruiting agencies are appointing them in foreign
countries,” Rahman added.

The chief guest said the present government has put importance on
popularising technical and vocational education and training programmes among
the youths to turn them into skilled workforce for increasing productivity
and foreign remittance inflow.

He asked the 30 trainees and 25 outgoing overseas workers to properly
utilise their knowledge and skills while serving both at home and aboard.

Later, he distributed certificates and appointments letters of the
Standard Group (Ready-made Garment Factory) among 30 trainees and overseas
job assurance certificates among 25 trained male and female youths.
