Govt to employ 10,000 as physicians soon: Maleque

Manikganj, Feb 17, 2019 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid
Maleque, MP today said the government is going to appoint 10,000 as
physicians as well as 15,000 nurses soon with a view to making the healthcare
services across the country more smooth.

“A total of 200,000 people are working in health sector and the government
is going to appoint more 10,000 physicians and 15,000 nurses soon,” the
minister said.

The minister said the average life expectancy of Bangladeshi citizens is 71
years and six months as the incumbent government is pledged-bound to reach
healthcare services to the door steps of countrymen and the government has
done a tremendous job in sector.

He was speaking at a workshop titled “Community Participation and Quality
Improvement Initiative” held at Manikganj Sadar Hospital as the chief guest.

Mentioning the importance of the role of head of the institutions to
improve the performance of the subordinates, Maleque urged physicians for
providing sincere services to the people within their limited resources.

The Minister also asked the physicians to ensure their presence at their
respective working places for giving services to the people.

With Superintendent of Sadar Hospital Saifur Rahman in the chair, the
programme was attended, among others, by Joint Secretary Md Shahadat Hossain,
Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous, Police Super Rifat Rahman Shamim, Civil
Surgeon Dr Zahirul Karim and Municipality Mayor Gazi Quamrul Huda Selim.

Later, the minister attended the “Manikganj District Development and
Coordination Meeting” held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner.
