RANGPUR, Feb 16, 2019 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion today said the contributions of renowned nuclear scientist with international repute and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr M A Wazed Miah would continue to inspire the country’s new generations.
Today is the 78th birthday of Dr Wazed Miah and leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies organized a memorial discussion marking the day at his birthplace Fatehpur Laldighee village under Pirganj upazila here.
Pirganj upazila AL, Dr Wazed Foundation and his family chalked out programmes including placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed, distribution of ‘Tobarak’, offering Fateha and munajats seeking eternal peace for his departed soul and wellbeing of his other family members.
Acting President of Pirganj upazila AL Advocate Azizur Rahman Ranga presided over the discussion at Fatehpur Laldighee village in the afternoon.
President of Dr Wazed Foundation and Vice-president of district AL Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, Advisor of Pirganj upazila AL Nurul Amin Raja, its Vice-president Anwarul Islam Manu, its general secretary and Pirganj Pourasabha mayor Tazimul Islam Shamim, President of district Chhatra League Mehedi Hasan Rony, among others, addressed it.
The speakers said Dr Wazed was a real patriot with noble character and compete honesty. He worked for building a technologically developed Bangladesh to materialize the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Besides, Dr Wazed Smriti Sangshad (DWSS), Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Carmichael College, Pirganj upazila parisahd and different sociocultural and professional organisations today celebrated the 78th birthday of Dr Wazed.
Today the leaders of DWSS placed wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed Miah in Fatehpur Laldighee village and offered Fateha there.
General Secretary of DWSS Saiful Islam Jahangir, its leaders Mahfuzul Islam Prince, Ali Jahur Mantu, Hassan Ali, Abu Taher Mandal, Mohsin Mian and Shafiul Islam with other leaders placed the wreath.
Later, the DWSS arranged Milad mahfil and offered special munajats at different mosques after Asr prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Dr Wazed and well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and their other family members.
