Stocks maintain upward trend

DHAKA, Feb 14, 2019 (BSS)-Stocks maintained upward trend as all indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) increased marginally with active participation of investors.

The turnover and trade volume, two major indicators of the market, also witnessed upward trend and the turnover rose to Taka 932.37 crore from the Wednesday Taka 712.65 crore and the daily trade increased to 25.25 crore share from previous session’s 17.47 crore shares.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, rose 1.96 points to settle at 5,750.29. The Shariah DSES rose to a fractional 0.13 points to close at 1311.45. However, the blue-chip DS30 witnessed a downward trend with 4.24 points down at 1999.08.

Gainer dominated the day’s trading as out of 347 traded issues on DSE floor, 160 gained against 148 losing securities while 39 remained unchanged.

Top five gainers on DSE trading floor were Central Insurance, Global Insurance, Purabi General Insurance, Alif Industries and Continental Insurance. Savar Refectories, Meghna Condensed Milk, Meghna Pet, Dulamiah Cotton and Samata Leathers were the top five losers on the day.

In port city Chattogram, the CSE closed the day marginally higher with the CASPI, the all share price index, 3.55 points up to settle at 17602.28.

About 270 issues were traded and of those, 134 closed higher and 108 closed lower.

A total of 34.13 crore shares and mutual fund units worth Taka 1.17 crore were traded on the CSE floor.
