AL wants participation of all parties in next polls: Qamrul

DHAKA, Feb 12, 2018 (BSS) – Food Minister and Awami League leader Advocate Md Qamrul Islam today said his party wants the next parliament election to be held inclusively with the participation of all registered political parties including BNP.

“Awami League wants inclusive election with the participation of all registered political parties including BNP,” he told a discussion of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote held at Jatiya Press Club conference lounge marking the birth anniversary of Language Veteran Gaziul Haque.

Former State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana, Vice-President Mobarak Ali Shikder, Awami League leaders Habibullah Ripon and Rokonuddin Pathan, among others, addressed the function with Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote President Lion Chittaranjan Das in the chair.

Qamrul Islam said supportive or caretaker government would not be formed again in the country in the coming days.

About the imprisonment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the minister said the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case was lodged during the caretaker government period and the verdict was delivered after long time. The government has no role in this regard, he added.

Qamrul said if anyone tries to create anarchy centering the verdict, tougher action would be taken against perpetrators.
