Govt takes steps for improving quality of education: PM

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 13, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister and Leader of the House
Sheikh Hasina today said her government has taken initiatives for improving
the quality of education.

“We’re imparting training to the teachers and started providing education
through digital system and setting up multimedia classrooms,” she said in
reply to treasury bench member Abdul Matin Khasru during her question-
answer session in the House.

The prime minister said her government has made arrangements to provide
modern technology-based education. “We’ve chosen some schools in the
capital and their classes are broadcast live through television so that
teachers of rural schools can gather experiences,” she said.

Responding to the criticism of quality of education in the country, the
prime minister said fixing of level of the standard of education is needed.

“Everybody speaks about the quality of education. But it’s necessary to
determine the level of quality of education,” she said.

Responding to a starred question from Awami League MP Didarul Alam, the
Leader of the House said the government has taken steps to set up a
permanent campus of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University on
50 acres of land adjacent to Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakoir in
Gazipur.

Sheikh Hasina said 8.42 acres of land have been allocated against the
university and a process for allocating 41.58 acres of land was almost
completed.

She said the vice-chancellor and 28 employees of the university have been
appointed, while the work on appointing teachers is underway.
